Many people have one tried and true bible that they carry with them everywhere. The pages are ragged, torn, dog-earred, highlighted, scribbled in the margins or anywhere else there is blank space. Then their are people like me, who love bibles. I have several bibles, all different kinds, colors, soft cover, hard back, amplified, King James, NIV, The Message, shall I continue?

My newest bible is one for busy moms. It is sleek and sassy and hot pink. It looks like it might have been designed for Girlfriends Unlimited :-) There are 52 one minute "thought starters", five minute "reflect and pray" and ten minute "study" sections. You are also given a word of the day for you to think about as you go about your busy day.

Last night, my Girlfriends Unlimited connection held its first event, Kick Off Your Heels. As I flipped the the pages after reading in Matthew, I came across this devotional entry; "Does a maiden forger her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number." Jeremiah 2:32. I thought this was very appropriate for the event we had.

The one minute thought starter goes on to talk about how caring for your outward appearance is not wrong as long as we focus on our inner selves and our attitudes. Even back in the day, the prophet Jeremiah noticed that women would very seldom leave their homes without their accessories. I mean really, most of us would not be caught at the grocery store without our "face on" and our "hair did".

So, your make up is done to perfection and not a hair out of place, but is Jesus in your heart? Here is what the devotional says to do~ Tomorrow, when you shower, praise God for the cleansing that Jesus' forgiveness provides. As your are dressing for the day, thank God for clothing you with Christ's righteousness. As you apply your makeup, thank him for being the foundation of your life. And as you put on your earrings, thank him for beautifying your life with the fruits of the Spirit.

I leave you with these questions. How long does it take you to prepare yourself for the day; 15 mins? 30 mins? and hour? How much time do you spend preparing your heart for the day?

The word of the day is "REMEMBER". If you have time read: Deut 8:11 ~ Psalm 78:1-7 ~ Eccl 12:1
